Sport at PNINS
Palmerston North Intermediate Normal School provides opportunities for all children to participate in a variety of sports and fitness programmes. We introduce students to a wide variety of sporting opportunities, and aim to have all students taking part in at least one sport throughout the year.
Parents and caregivers are also invited to get involved, by assisting with sports coaching and team management.

Join a Summer Sport - Term 4
Registration for Term 4 Sport will close in Week 8 - Wednesday 9th September
Our team sports require a coach to supervise each team during games. In return for your volunteered time, sports fees will be waived for your child for the sport you coach.
Once registrations have closed Fees will be loaded to your School Kindo accounts.
If you have unpaid sports fees from the first 3 Terms, This may impact your child from being entered in Term 4 sports
These will be due by Week 3 - Term 4
There is no refund on sports fees once the sport has started.

The Super Sports Competition is unique to intermediate schools in the Manawatu, Horowhenua and Whanganui Regions.
This competition is seen as a way of extending our top sports-people in an inter-school competition. We believe that involvement in this competition promotes;

AIMS GAMES
Aims Games
The Zespri AIMS GAMES have established themselves as the elite sporting competition for emerging adolescents in New Zealand. It is an opportunity to compete on a national stage and our focus at PININS is to excel in this environment.
PNINS was one of the founding schools, and since the beginning we have consistently sent a team and intends to do so this year. In 2024, the PNINS team brought home 17 medals which was an amazing achievement.
Mrs James and Mr McRae will be the leads, selecting and organising the PNINS team to attend this prestigious event. We will be taking a team of approximately 40 athletes across a number of codes which we are yet to decide.
There will be an Information night at PNINS in Week 4 of Term 1, following this online registrations will open.
