Blue Badge Awards

Blue badges are highly regarded at PNINS, they are an important part of our school curriculum.

The initial idea for Blue Badges came from the School Council of 2004 who asked for the school to consider an incentive badge for achievement.

These badges are proudly worn on the jersey of each recipient.  Each badge has its own list of criteria of which four must be achieved before the Blue Badge is awarded.

The Blue Badges will be presented at a Friday Assembly.

Blue Badge Guidelines

  1. You can only receive a badge or a star in the same year

  2. Year 7s cannot receive their Citizenship Badge until Term 3

  3. Four criteria must be met to receive each badge

  4. Some criteria crosses over two badges.  e.g. I was selected to take part in a cultural sport at representative level (Culture Badge).  I was selected to represent Manawatu, North Island or N.Z in any sporting code (Sport Badge).  In this case, you can only use this accomplishment to meet the criteria for one of these two badges

  5. Have your achievements signed by the relevant teacher, coach or instructor.

  6. For each criteria you must supply evidence of that achievement.  Record the evidence next to each criteria e.g. certificate, photo, clearfile, test, letter

  7. On a separate piece of paper record specific information to support your Blue Badge application (a bullet point for each criteria as shown below)

  8. Have your application signed off by your teacher.  Citizenship applications must also be signed off by your Team Leader.

  9. Hand your passport into your classroom teacher one week before the Blue Badge assembly with any relevant evidence and your page of supporting information.
